The area surrounding Domaine d’Esperbasque lends itself to horseback riding, which is organized from the campsite, beautiful rides with guidance. Every night there is a trail of two hours in the hilly region. These rides are for experienced riders. After the beginners classes, there is still a small ride for beginners. Every child can ride, if accompanied by their parents.
The indoor riding school provides riding lessons for every level. Every morning the stalls are cleaned, the horses brought back from the meadow, groomed, brushed and saddled. In the morning there are beginners classes, in the afternoon there are advanced classes. Even if you haven’t ridden recently or just want to experience what it’s like on the back of a horse? You can!
At Domaine d’Esperbasque the threshold to (re-)start riding is made very low: we provide beginner lessons for adults. These 30 minute lessons are fully adapted to the rider’s level.

We have eleven horses and ponies, each with its own character!

Kaspar

Maya
Maya is born here at Esperbasque, she is the daughter of Itzarro! She does have the elegant looks of her friesian father, but the speed from her mother. Which makes her a very nice pony to ride. Maya is friendly and will always be the first to come and meet you in the field.
Tania
Tania is a sweet mare that needs people who are gentle with her. She completely has her own character and knows how to express herself. She is very comfortable to ride but doesn’t hesitate to show her horse-friends to back off when they get too close. A real mare!
Nuts
Nuts is a brown, enthusiastic and sociable horse, suitable for experienced riders. Nuts only rides the trail rides and often wins the race field. Fast, but a great listener.
Opium
Opium is a brown gelding, who in the summer turns grey! In the lessons he is the perfect horse for as well experienced riders as adult beginners, but outside he likes to lead and requires an advanced rider.
Nuit
Nuit is a beautiful brown and white horse that loves when you scratch his neck. His calm and happy energy helps people build their confidence on the outside trails. Beginner or advanced rider, Nuit is a perfect companion.
Itzarro
Itzarro is a real Friesian horse that was born on the campsite. This absolute beauty steals all the hearts with his looks, big sweet eyes and love for cuddles. He needs an experienced rider who gives him confidence and lots of love. He is also the father of Maya!
